**There is Still Time to Book on the Advanced Certificate In Equine Transport Course and Assessment on Monday 11th September 2017 with LOC. **
LOC Transport are now offering training and qualifications for the Advanced Certificate in Equine Transport (ACET)
Do you transport horses for a living (or would you like to)?
Are you a professional rider or show groom?
Are you looking for a career in horse transport?
Are you transporting horses as part of your job, i.e. for reward?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions then you need to have an Advanced Certificate in Equine Transport. LOC are now training candidates to provide both the training and the exam so that you can achieve your ACET.
This course will teach you all you need to know about transporting horses, from how to plan a journey and things you need to consider ahead of time, to what travel equipment you’ll need, loading and unloading tips, safe driving, how to load difficult horses, how to ensure that you are meeting the safety and welfare standards, right through to how to care for the horse after a long journey.
As of January 2007, EU Welfare in transport Regulation No 1/2005 requires that anybody who transports horses in connection with an economic activity (for business purposes) for over 8 hours to hold an Advanced Certificate in Equine Transport (ACET)/WATO (The Welfare of Animals (Transport) (England) Order 2006).
How do I know if I need a certificate?
In general, you will need a certificate if you are;
Transporting horses for hire or reward (for payment) on journeys of more than 65km or eight hours
Transporting horses for sale or to an abattoir for slaughter
Transporting horses as part of a business – whether that be to/from stud or to competitions.
